I’m considering the purchase of a Zojirushi bread machine. Any opinions? We make a lot of bread around here. Mixing the dough up in the Bosch and then putting it into pans is by no means difficult, but I like the idea of making the process even easier during this stage of life. The Zojirushi turns out a traditionally shaped loaf, and can be programmed to custom rise times (good for a whole wheat sourdough that takes a long rise). If you’ve ever owned one, or know someone who does, please leave a comment.

I own one! And I LOVE it! Like yours (from an earlier post) my hubby also sometimes knows best. They are spendy little machines, but my dear husband bought one for me several years ago on Valentine’s Day. The main reason he chose this brand is that it has a cycle you can program yourself, perfect for my gluten free bread. Enjoy!

Sarah, thanks for the recommendation. Where did Jeremy buy it? Is there someone local who carries them?

In case Sarah doesn’t check her mail for a while, I wonder if AllISaw would have them? Seems like a brand they’d carry…

Ooh, yay. I was hoping it would get a good personal review. I’m going to get that thing pronto. I’m going to have to write an IOU to my “Janeen spending” account, but that’s ok for a kitchen appliance, right?

THANK YOU, Janeen, for finding this and then posting about it! I totally understand the dilemma of bread-baking and “this stage of life.” Many moons ago, when I first started baking bread, I used the dough cycle on a Sunrise (I think?) bread machine, and then baked it in regular pans. I just don’t like the standard, bread machine-type-loaf. Had no idea there were machines that did a regular loaf. I wore that thing out within a year or two, and replaced it with a mini Bosch. I have considered upgrading to the full-size for the last couple years, just because I could do a week’s worth in one full swoop. No, it’s not HARD to mix up the bread and then shape it into pans every day or every other day. However, while homeschooling 3 grades with a toddler and a newborn, many times I forget to do it. At lunch time, there we sit, with a batch of bread (still) resting in the Bosch bowl. Sheesh.

I can relate to not getting the bread done “in time”. In contemplating a bread machine I’m also hesitant because I don’t want to abandon my pricey Bosch, but I’m thinking I will still get plenty of use.

I’ve been debating the pricey Bosch for a couple of years now, but just can’t convince myself due to “stage of life” reasons. I didn’t know there was a machine that made regular loaves either! I’ve been using a thrift store bread machine for awhile now after I burned up my first one. So Janeen, you’re leaning away from your Bosch?

Not so much leaning against, as changing how I’m using it. For the past three years it’s primarily been a wheat grinder (with attachment) and dough mixer. I’ve gotten a few more attachments since then, so I think I’m ok with using It more as a multipurpose machine instead of for mostly dough. I just feel like I’m cheating on my Bosch a bit by bringing a bread machine into the house
As far as power goes, you really can’t beat a Bosch.

Yep. I’m pretty sure he got it at All I Saw. I know I also saw it once in Anchorage at that fancy kitchen store in the Natural Pantry mall. I bet you could get a better price through Amazon, but you may not want to wait for it to arrive! I just used it again this morning and it never lets me down!

I was just thinking about this issue again today, as I made a batch o’ bread in the trusty Bosch.

Supposedly mine is on the truck for delivery today! Amazon sent it 2 day (free) it seems like they usually do that for big ticket items. Also, rumor has it that the price changes often on Amazon. If you’re willing to wait, you could mark it for price updates through nukeprice.com
